I. Roll Call:

II. Call to Order:
Chairman Samuel B. Barnes called the meeting to order at 5:22 P.M.

III. Comments from the Public
No public in attendance

IV. Approval of Minutes
A motion made to approve the minutes of April 1, 2014.
Ayes 6, Nays 0, Abstentions 0. Motion carried.
V. Chairman’s Comments
Nothing to report except I heard that the Variety Show was spectacular and is an excellent example of a town wide calibration of teamwork to show talent of all ages.
VI. Director’s Report

Director Heather reported that Granting Funding – United Way
* for the Early Childhood Consultation Partnership will remain at $10,000.  This is due in part to Melinda Tyler’s great job at grant writing and her advertising of workshops. *Assets for Action - $8,500.00  * SEARCH Survey, for grades 6 through 12, Dir. Heather will meet with Superintendent Jan Perruccio to give her data of previous surveys. This survey is planned for November of this year. *the 15th Variety Show was held April 25th.  It was a great success with 43 acts this year.  Wendy Mill, Coordinator did a terrific job.  *Summer Programming is underway with several scheduled events already planned.  The idea of these programs is to bridge to gap between the school year and the summer, and then back to school. (some of the events are attached) * YFS Commission Student Personal Achievement Award (see Old Business)
VII. Old Business
YFS Commission Student Personal Achievement Award - Nominations were obtained and discussed. A student was selected and will be recognized at the senior awards assembly to be held May 28th  at the high school.
