Director’s Report
  • The concert “Ticket to Ride” will be April 26 at 7:30 pm at the Middle School Auditorium.  It’s a concert to benefit Mental Health & Prevention Services through OSYFS (must be at least 15 years old to attend)
  • Director Heather attended the Board of Finance meeting and thanked those members that attended.  They seemed to have a lot of questions, which indicated that they really are not aware of all the needed services that are provided to the town; which is the reason for the budget increase.
  • The Community Leader Youth Summit was held on March 11th with 68 attendees.  The three top concerns that came out of the Summit seem to be: Community Calendar to prevent the overlap of events – the Chamber is willing to take this; more parent involvement; and the use of the website with links. The concern here is, those without computer access. Although they could use the library’s computers.
  • HCHY board is meeting Friday to determine what is next for the Advisory Board.
  • Sunday, March 24th was the LEGO® Build. There were a total of 47 family teams from Old Saybrook and Westbrook and they built windmills. It was a great success all around.
  • Wellness Day at the Middle School is April 3; and the High School Workshops will be on April 25th and 26th.
  • Next week they are taking ten (10) high school students to a Youth Empowerment Summit at Central and the following month ten (10) middle school students.  They are trying to develop smaller pockets of the Assets Team in the seventh and eighth grades.
  • Summer Plans are rolling along
  • Friday, May 10th is the Family Hidden Treasures Variety Show at the High School.  There are approximately 27 acts.
  • They are interviewing for two new interns for the fall.
  • Harlem Rockets will be at Middle School April 3rd at 6:30
