IV. Approval of Minutes of the April 2, 2013, March 5, 2013 and February 5, 2013 regular meetings |
A motion made by Catherine Kane to approve the minutes of February 5, 2013 and seconded by Jen Welsh. Ayes 5, Nays 0, Abstentions 4. Motion was carried. A motion was made by Dorothy Shearer to approve the minutes of March 5, 2013 and seconded by Catherine Kane. Ayes 7, Nays 0, Abstentions 1. Motion was carried. A motion was made by Dorothy Shearer to approve the minutes of April 2, 2013 and seconded by JT Giegrich. Ayes 5, Nays 0, Abstentions 4. Motion was carried.

VII. Director’s Report
|
The Director reported that: They are working on the Summer Schedule with Park & Rec with programs for Teens; Movies on the Beach. She will email the schedule to members. At the March 11th Summit meeting they asked if a Community Calendar could be set up so the everyone would have one venue to see what is happening to try and prevent conflicts in scheduling
events. Summit #2 meeting will be May 13th at OSMS library from 4-5:30 p.m. They are also planning on having smaller youth summits this summer. Staffing: Julie Moskowitz, the after-school coordinator gave her notice, so they are looking for a replacement. Director Sam asked if Julie could be invited to the June meeting. Achievement Awards for OSHS Senior(s): Director Heather indicated that they have three names of students who they feel qualify. A motion was made by Diane Aldi-DePaola to give two achievement awards to the two students who are recommended by Y&F due to their interaction at Y&F; seconded by Peggy Viggiano. Ayes 7, Nayes 0, Abstentions 0. Motion was carried. Prevention Conferences: Tomorrow they are taking a group of 8 middle school students to the SECRAC (South Eastern Connecticut Regional Action Counsel) meeting in Mystic; last week they took 10 8th, 9th and 10th grade students to the Connecticut Youth Service Association Day at the Capitol. They
met Art Linares and had a meeting with other Youth Service Bureau students from around the state talking about student safety and were part of a panel discussion with state senators and representatives. The Y&F staff went to a SECRAC conference and met an interactive theatre group that talked about prevention. They are planning on having them at the Freshman Retreat this year. The cost is only $500.00 “Ticket to Ride”: Lot of good community outreach Community Variety Show: is this Friday at 6:30. They have 47 acts.
