SPECIAL MEETING MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
Wednesday, November 15, 2017
3:30 P.m.
Town Hall – First Floor Conference Room
PRESENT: First Selectman Carl P. Fortuna Jr., Selectman Scott Giegerich, Selectman Carol Conklin and members of the public.
I. CALL TO ORDER – First Selectman Fortuna called the meeting to order at 3:30 p.m.

III. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC - None
IV. COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMAN- The First Selectman commented on the following:
- The North Cove dredge project commenced
- Connecticut River Coastal Conservation District sent the Town a Certificate of Appreciation for our years of support
- The State budget is already in the red and while the amount the Town is scheduled to receive is $540,000, the First Selectman believes that due to intra-year cuts that will be made, the actual number will be closer to what we have budgeted ($375,000).
- The Board of Finance meeting will have a proposed legal settlement for December 5th and would like to have a joint meeting with the Board of Selectmen.
- Eversource is requesting a rate increase
- The Fire Marshal will be using CodePal soon. We anticipate this software will allow us to diminish administrative hours and also be far more efficient in the field.
- There will be a need to do repairs to the cupola and the roof at the Chamber building. We are working on a Request for Proposal.
- The Kate’s front six pillars and the pedestal are showing signs of cracking. The First Selectman will recommend to the Board of Finance funding for an analysis by Hoffman Architects.
- The Selectman discussed possibly putting a sign in front of the Main Street Park to indicate municipal parking.

Discussion and action to sign the Call for Town Meeting, November 27, 2017.
The First Selectman reviewed the agenda items.
