MINUTES of SPECIAL TOWN MEETING - June 23, 2016
MINUTES of SPECIAL TOWN MEETING June 23, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at the Old Saybrook Town Hall, Main Level Conference Room, 302 Main Street, Old Saybrook Connecticut with approximately 10 persons attending.
Carl Fortuna, First Selectman, called the meeting to order and led the assembly in the Pledge of Allegiance. On a motion duly made and seconded, it was unanimously voted that Lee Ann Palladino serve as Moderator of the meeting for the following purpose:
To act upon the recommendation of the Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen
to appropriate the sum of $17,000 for the reconstruction of the Town Beach
Pavilion. Said funds will be taken from the Town’s capital non-recurring fund
(municipal reserve fund). These funds supplement funds already approved, in the
amount of $13,000, to be taken from the Law Enforcement Fund.
First Selectman Fortuna read the call of the meeting. He reviewed the project and funding. Paula Kaye had a few questions about the condition of the current pavilion and why not a rehab of the current structure. Susan Esty from P & R commission satisfied Ms. Kaye that the current condition of the Pavilion warranted new construction. Tom Stevenson suggested a ribbon cutting when complete. Following questions, it was moved, seconded and unanimously voted to ADOPT this item as presented.
