        A.  Discussion and possible action on recommending to the Board of Finance
                appropriations on the following:
1.The sum of $20,000 from the Town’s Municipal Reserve Fund (capital and non-recurring account) towards
the town’s 10% match of $200,000 grant from the State of Connecticut Department of Economic and Community
Development for a Brownfield Area-wide Revitalization (BAR) Planning Grant.
The grant was explained to the Board. The First Selectman noted with great enthusiasm how excited the town is to have received this grant. This was a competitive grant and many towns applied. Old Saybrook received the maximum amount allotted.
CONKLIN/FORTUNA
Motion to approve $20,000 from the Town’s Municipal Reserve Fund (capital and non-recurring account) towards the town’s 10% match of $200,000 grant.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY

        2.  The sum of $48,000 for the repair and upgrade of the Youth & Family Service Building, as well as the replacement
of certain  furniture and fixtures, said funds to be drawn from the town’s  Municipal Reserve Fund (capital non-
                         recurring account).
It was explained that the Chief of Police has been supervising the work. Quotes are from a wide variety of vendors. Heather McNeil acknowledged that the money proposed should account for the entire interior. She looks forward to the finished product. Selectman Conklin asked about regular maintenance at town buildings and what could be done to proactively~keep repair and~replacement~records with dates on municipal assets and buildings, particularly infrastructure parts (such as roof, windows, furnace, etc.) for review and coordination of repairs and service. The Fire Marshal does attempt to do some of this but there is money projected to be in the 16-17 budget for a facilities director.
