MINUTES OF THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN
REGULAR MEETING
Tuesday, October 27, 2015
7:00 P.m.
Town Hall – Second Floor Conference Room

Present:  First Selectman Carl P. Fortuna Jr., Selectman Scott Giegerich and Selectman Steve Gernhardt.

I.      CALL TO ORDER – First Selectman called the meeting to order at 7:00 pm
II.     PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE-Recited
III.    COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC- None
IV.    COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMAN- None
V.     APPROVAL OF MINUTES Board of Selectmen Meeting October 13, 2015.
VI.    BUSINESS BEFORE THE BOARD
  • Discuss to approve general release of a settlement of benefit assessment appeal phase 1 of the Decentralized Wastewater Management District Program. First Selectman Fortuna discussed this $6000.00 settlement for Shelley DeProto.

  • Referral to Planning Commission regarding acquisition of property at 40 Old Post Road. First Selectman Fortuna indicated this is a piece of land the Town (P & R) would be interested in acquiring from Cliff Rhodes for about $1000.00 in back taxes.

  • Discussion and possible action on recommending an appropriation to the Board of Finance for $6500 from the Harbor Management Fund to pay Connecticut River Dock and Dredge for pulling moorings in the Cove.
Discussion ensued by Harbor Management Commission (HMC) members Ray Collins, Dick Goduti and clerk Gerri Lewis that this was a budget item until a few years ago but the HMC thought it more appropriate to come from the HMC fund. There is recent discussion that all appropriations from said fund should go through the Board of Selectmen and Board of Finance. Selectman Giegerich and Gernhardt both had questions about the fund which were answered. A brief discussion about future dock repairs also occurred.

  • Discuss and act on recommendation of First Selectman Fortuna for release of encroachment bond  13 South Cove Road

VII.    COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMEN-The Selectmen all stated how much they enjoyed working with each other and for the Town over the last four years.
