Present: First Selectman Carl P. Fortuna Jr., Selectman Scott Giegerich, Selectman Steve
Gernhardt (by phone), Finance Director Lisa Carver, and a member of the public.
I. CALL TO ORDER – First Selectman Fortuna called the meeting to order at 3:30 P.m.
II. BUSINESS BEFORE THE BOARD
A. Temporary emergency appointment by the Board of Selectmen to the Board of Finance
pursuant to Chapter 11, Section 2 of the Town Charter.
First Selectman Fortuna reported that three (3) candidates were interviewed for the position
by the RTC and that he is recommending that Gregory Gernhardt (R) receive the
appointment. Mr. Gernhardt is the brother of Selectman Steven Gernhardt. Selectman
Giegerich indicated that Mr. Gernhardt has an impressive resume.

Motion to appoint Gregory Gernhardt as a temporary emergency appointment to the Board
of Finance pursuant to Chapter 11, Section 2 of the Town Charter.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
III. COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMEN:
First Selectman Fortuna explained that this temporary appointment is for 5 days and is
necessary under time requirements in the Town Charter. This appointment must be
reaffirmed at next week’s BOS meeting to fill the 2-year unexpired term of Derrik Kennedy.
