Selectman Steve Gernhardt was unavailable.
I. CALL TO ORDER – First Selectman Fortuna called the meeting to order at 2:00 P.M.
II. BUSINESS BEFORE THE BOARD
A. Discuss and act on waiving bid ordinance in the event of a declaration of a State of
Emergency due to winter storm/blizzard.
A State of Emergency for the Town of Old Saybrook was declared on February 8, 2013
due to the blizzard. First Selectman Fortuna noted that the Town will enter into contracts,
some of which will exceed the bid ordinance.

Motion to waive bid ordinance with the declaration of a State of Emergency for the Town of Old
Saybrook due to winter storm/blizzard.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
B. Delegate to and authorize Incident Commander, Chief of Police Michael Spera, to execute
contracts for the duration of State of Emergency.
First Selectman Fortuna stated the blizzard brought record snow and to cope with the clean-up
to make roads, sidewalks and parking areas safe and accessible to allow the schools
to open, a meeting will take place today, immediately following, to assign work to private
contractors while Town Crew remains working.
