MINUTES

Present: First Selectman Carl Fortuna, Selectman Steven Gernhardt, Selectman Scott Giegerich.


I.
CALL TO ORDER – First Selectman Fortuna called the meeting to order at 10:00 a.m.
II.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE – First Selectman Fortuna led those in attendance

COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC – None present
IV.
COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMAN
First Selectman Fortuna stated that he has received a number of complaints from residents in Cornfield Point concerning a new home owner, whose property is adjacent to a road ending. He stated he has reviewed the site; he met with the President of Cornfield Point and asked them to try and work the problem out.
He further stated that he has received a letter from the President of the Riverside Cemetery Association. The association has sold some land to Senior Housing and has funds to do some fence repair. They are asking permission to do the repairs. He stated that he will have a conversation with them.
He also stated that the WPCA has signed a contract with Lombardi Construction for Saybrook Acres 3 WWMD project.
Resident Bill Childress has offered to donate one of his father’s illustrations. It is very large 6 feet by 16 feet. Trying to determine where it could be placed.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Special Board of Selectmen Meeting April 20, 2012

Motion to approve the minutes of the Special Board of Selectmen Meeting April 20, 2012 as presented.

VI.
BUSINESS BEFORE THE BOARD
     A.  Discuss and act on removing property located at 105 Middletown Avenue from
           seasonal classification recorded in Volume 200.
FORTUNA/GIEGERICH
Motion to removing property located at 105 Middletown Avenue from seasonal classification recorded in Volume 200 and authorize First Selectman Fortuna to sign authorization.
MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY
     B.  Discuss Notice for Public Hearing for the Town’s 2012 Small Cities Grant Application.
First Selectman Fortuna reviewed the reason for the Public Hearing; Old Saybrook is acting as the agent to apply for a DECD Small Cities Grant for Senior Housing renovation. No action required.

C.  Appointments
     1.  Tree Committee.  Vacancy.  This appointment is for the unexpired portion of a 3-year term due to expire 10/2013.
GIEGERICH/GERNHARDT
Motion to appoint Deborah Ferrer to the Tree Committee. This appointment is for the unexpired portion of a 3-year term due to expire 10/2013.
