MINUTES
PRESENT: First Selectman Michael A. Pace; Selectman William Peace, Selectman Velma Thomas and a member of the press.
I. CALL TO ORDER
First Selectman Michael Pace called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M.
II. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
First Selectman Michael Pace led those in attendance in the Pledge of Allegiance.
III. COMMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC: None
IV. COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMEN
Selectman Pace noted that the Board of Selectmen was conscious of the economy and controlling the budget. He noted that although we’ve lost $200,000.00 in revenue, and the escalation of costs of insurance and utilities, the continuity of services in the Town continues to result in increased efficiency.
V. APPROVAL OF MINUTES of the Board of Selectmen Meeting of
February 21, 2008.

Motion to accept the minutes of the Meeting of February 21, 2008 as presented.
THOMAS ABSTAINED. MOTION CARRIED.
VI. BUSINESS BEFORE THE BOARD
i. Blight Ordinance
The Selectmen briefly discussed the blight ordinance. Selectman Thomas noted that she had read over the material from Attorney Cronin to bring herself up to speed. Selectman Pace suggested, and it was agreed, that it be on the Agenda for the next Referendum in April, 2008.
ii. Budget Workshop
The Board of Selectmen went over the operational budget on the General Government side by item and department in detail, including the 5 year capital plan. Selectman Pace noted that the General Government budget, to date, is increased by 1.45%, for a total budget of $34,122,241.00. Selectman Pace discussed restructuring of the WPCA Coordinator position, which would provide savings and effective service.
iii. Discuss and act on budget recommendation to Board of Finance.
There being no further discussion on the budget, Selectman Pace asked for a motion with regard to the same.
PEACE/THOMAS
Motion to approve and recommend to the Board of Finance the General Government budget of $15,115,000.00 with the provision that Selectman Pace is authorized to make adjustments.

VII. COMMENTS FROM THE SELECTMEN
Selectman Peace reviewed a map brought in by the engineer for an affordable housing project proposal.
