IV.     OLD BUSINESS

  •      Scenic Roads

Commissioners and staff met at 155 Ingham Hill Road and talked specifically about what they wanted to notate on the map; the landmarks, stonewalls and trees that make Ingham Hill Road a designated “scenic road”.

M. Urban has lived on Ingham Hill Road for over 20 years. He shared the historic information he knew about the road and the area.

Commissioners and staff drove north from 155 Ingham Hill Road to the end of Ingham Hill Road. M. Urban talked about the man made ponds that lead to Oyster River, the Great Cedar trees, the fish ladder, the stone walls, and the portions of Ingham Hill Road that border “The Preserve” property.

Commissioners discussed putting up interpretative signage and establishing a public turnaround near the end of Ingham Hill Road.

J. Rynecki recorded specific addresses where stonewalls are located, the Buddhist Stupa, and other noteworthy places on the map.

S. Prisloe offered to come back and GPS items and places of interest.

M. Urban suggested that if Commissioners would like to hear a more detailed history of Ingham Hill Road, for example, which stonewalls are of historic significance, they invite Barbara Maynard to a future Planning Commission meeting.

D. Shearer suggested possibly audio recording B. Maynard’s historic stories and archiving them.

V.      ADJOURNMENT
MOTION to adjourn the meeting at 7:27 p.m. until the next regularly scheduled meeting on Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at 7:30 P.M., Town Hall, 302 Main Street, 1st Floor Conference Room; MADE by C. Flanagan; SECONDED by D. Shearer; VOTED IN FAVOR: R. Missel, C. Flanagan, K. Sugland, D. Shearer, M. Urban; OPPOSED: none; ABSTAINED: none; APPROVED: 5-0-0.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathleen Noyes
