Yesterday (Tuesday May 15th), Old Saybrook voters overwhelmingly approved the Town and Education budgets by a margin of more than 12-1. Thank you to all those who came out to vote and to so many of you who followed this budget process for the last five months. Not only does this budget result in a lower mill rate but it will result in lower taxes for nearly all Old Saybrook residents, a first in well over a generation. The mill rate for the 2018-19 fiscal year will be 19.60 (It is currently 19.66.)
The results of the referendum were as follows:
General Government: Yes – 327, No – 26
Board of Education: Yes – 326, No – 33
Thank you.
Carl P Fortuna, Jr.
First Selectman, Town of Old Saybrook
