Message from the First Selectman Regarding Yesterday’s Storm
Along with the public safety leadership team, I am assessing the damage from last night’s storm. There are many trees down, roads blocked and wires everywhere. Please do not touch any wire that has come down. You should assume it is powered up and dangerous. Many towns in Connecticut have residential outages exceeding 50%. You can monitor the outage map at Eversource’s website: Outage Map. The Old Saybrook High School will be open for lunch and dinner today to our residents. You can also get fresh water and charge your phones. The YMCA in Westbrook is also open as a public service for your use to shower and charge phones.  Please be prepared for a multi-day event due to the number of outages across the State. Please also embrace the “Neighbor Helping Neighbor” concept and check on your neighbors to see if they need assistance.

Also make sure you have had communication with your family and friends so that they know that you are safe.

Thank you.
