DELAY IN ROAD CLOSURE. WATCH FOR UPDATE.
The Connecticut Department of Transportation is announcing that Route 1 in Old Saybrook will be closed and a detour will be implemented for five consecutive days beginning on September 29, 2017, at 7:00 PM, and ending on October 4, 2017, at 5:00 AM. Route 1, just east of Route 166, will be detoured while the demolition and construction of the new bridge is performed.
The closure is necessary to facilitate the replacement of Bridge 01890 - Route 1 over Center Brook.
Project 105-211 consists of the replacement of the bridge with a precast box culvert and precast wingwalls. The replacement will begin with the relocation of existing Utilities and reconstruction of the east and west approaches to the bridge. The project will include drainage and general roadway improvements, as well as improvements to signalization at Route 1 and Center Road intersection.
The project was awarded to LaRosa Earth Group, LLC and is scheduled to be completed November 16, 2017.
