Legal Notice: The Town of Old Saybrook is seeking to engage the services of a Consulting Engineering firm to provide construction inspection and administration services for the following transportation project:

State Project No. L105-0001 - North Main Street Improvements

This project is being funded under the State of Connecticut Department of Transportation Local Transportation Capital Improvement Program (LOTCIP).  

The construction project consists of the reconstruction of approximately 900 feet of North Main Street between Boston Post Road (Route 1) and the Old Saybrook Train Station, including but not limited to, pavement reclamation, drainage improvements, traffic signal modifications, and installation of sidewalks and landscaping features.

The Consulting Engineering firm selected may also be required to provide materials testing and prepare reports. The projected project construction cost is expected to be in the range of $1M to $2.5M.  

Firms responding to this request should be of adequate size and sufficiently staffed to perform the assignment described above.

The Consulting Engineering firm will be evaluated and selected based on technical competence, the capacity and capability to perform the work within the time allotted, past record of performance, and knowledge of State and Municipal procedures weighted in descending order of importance.  

The fee will be negotiated on a cost plus basis. The contract will not be subject to DBE/SBE/SBPPP goals.

The selected firm must meet all applicable Municipal and State affirmative action and equal employment opportunity practices.

Three (3) copies of a letter of interest, together with general information on the firm, the firm’s brochure, experience of the firm, and resumes/qualifications of key personnel shall be addressed to: Carl P. Fortuna, Jr., First Selectman, Town of Old Saybrook, 302 Main Street, Old Saybrook, CT  06475.  Proposed sub consultants should be clearly identified.  The relationship to any”parent” firm or subsidiary firm, with any of the parties concerned, must be clearly defined.

All letters of interest must be postmarked by a U.S. Post Office (if mailed) or brought to The First Selectman’s office at the above address (if hand delivered) no later than 4:30 p.m. on January 20, 2017 on.  Responses received or postmarked after this date will not be considered.
