CALL OF SPECIAL TOWN MEETING


Notice is hereby given that a Special Town Meeting of the electors and citizens that qualify to vote in Town Meetings of the Town of Old Saybrook will be held at the Vicki G. Duffy Pavilion, 155 College Street, Old Saybrook, Connecticut, on Monday, October 17, 2016, at 7:00 p.m. for the following purpose:

        To act upon the recommendation of the Board of Finance and Board of Selectmen to appropriate the sum of $138,000 for building repairs to the Town Hall (TH), The Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center (KHCAC) and the Acton Public Library (APL), plus a general contingency in the amount of $6,893. The repairs are as follows:

At Town Hall and Parks and Recreation ($22,400):

a.  $4200 to repair leaks on the roof of the Parks and Recreation Building (TH)
b.  $7500 to repair the ductwork located on the roof of TH
c.  $1500 to install two new heavy duty gutter systems on TH
d.  $9200 for painting of the triangle on the front of TH

At the Acton Public Library ($71,550):

e.  $24,850 for the repair of the lower APL roof
f.   $5,150 for the repair of the roof at the juncture of the cupola (skylight) on the APL
g.  $24,950 for the repair of the two upper flat roof sections of the APL
h.  $14,600 to replace two heat pump units at the APL
i.   $2,000 to inspect and make minor repairs to the remaining units for the upcoming heating season

At the Katherine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center ($37,157):

j.   To replace a three way valve in the Concert Hall at the KHCAC at an estimated cost of $2,805
k.  To replace an undersized manual isolation valve on AHU 6 at an estimated cost of $2,500 (KHCAC)
l.   To replace one of three leaking condenser coils on the main 60 ton air cooled chiller unit at an estimated cost
    of $9,200
m. To replace and relocate the glycol tank make up valves on both the hot and cold water system at an estimate
     cost of $672
n.  To replace the original heating boiler with two high efficiency NG high-efficiency dual modular fired boilers
     and flue system at an estimated cost of $16,000
o.  To modify the existing lower lobby AHU-5 ductwork to convert from 100% outside air to both outside and
     return air to reduce seasonal humidity at an estimated cost of $5,980.

Said funds will be taken from the Town’s capital non-recurring fund (municipal reserve fund).
