More than 50% of the parcels in town are in the 100 year flood plain, an area that will expand with climate change and sea level rise. Some areas in town currently experience flooding of streets with each astronomical high tide. To help prepare as these events become more dramatic in the future, Carl Fortuna, the First Selectman, asked that a Sea Level Rise and Climate Adaptation Committee (SLRCAC) be commissioned to begin the process of identifying the potential impacts of the impact sea level rise and climate change on our community. The Committee is
drafting a report of its study, which includes recommendations that should be considered by the town to prepare for these changes. Please join us on June 23rd to learn more about sea level rise and climate change, as well as the data and thinking behind the recommendations to the town. We look forward to your participation and comments.

Sea Level Rise Climate Adaptation Committee
