Election Day Registration for New Voters
Election Day Registration

Starting with this upcoming election day (November 5th) you may register and vote in person on Election Day if you meet the eligibility requirements for voting in this state and you are not already registered, OR you are registered in one town and want to change your registration because you currently reside in another town.  By law, a person is eligible to register and vote if he or she is (1) a US citizen, (2) age 18 or older, (3) a bona fide resident of the town in which he or she applies for admission, and (4) have completed confinement and parole if previously convicted of a disfranchising felony.

Election Day Registration (EDR) is not available at your polling place. To register and vote on the same day in Old Saybrook you must go to the Registrar of Voters office in Old Saybrook Town Hall.

To utilize Election Day Registration you must provide proof of identity and residency. Some examples:
1) Current Connecticut Drivers License with your Old Saybrook address will meet both requirements.
2) Birth Certificate of Social Security card along with proof of residency.  Proof of residency could be a current utility bill, lease contract, current mortgage statement, recent tax bill, etc.

If you have questions about the required identification documentation or the overall Election Day Registration process please contact the Registrars of Voters office at 860-395-3134.

For the upcoming November 5th election, Election Day Registration will be available at the Town Hall Registrars of Voters office from 6:00 AM - 8:00 PM on November 5th.

DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE TO VOTE. According to state law, voters must be REGISTERED TO VOTE prior to the 8:00 PM close of voting. If you are waiting in line to register at 8:00 PM you will not be able to vote in this election.
