Our town has set up October 10th as the sign up day for help through the state programs Connecticut Energy Assistance Program, CEAP and Connecticut Heating Assistance Program, CHAP administered by the Community Renewal Team, CRT.

Help is available for all types of heat.  The program has tiered levels of assistance depending upon income and family size and the amounts awarded will help families struggling with high heating costs keep warm this winter.  This program will run through March of 2013 but applicants should apply as early as possible in the heating season.  Program representatives from CRT will be here in Old Saybrook at the Town Hall on October 10th to take applications for the start of this year’s heating season.  Appointments need to be scheduled in advance and information on what documentation you should bring will be provided to those registered.

Please contact Susan Consoli, MA, LPC, Social Services Coordinator, at 860-395-3188 or by email to sconsoli@town.old-saybrook.ct.us  to apply for heating assistance or for more information.
