- Physical Improvements
- Consider planting plan for guiderail-Design Phase
Kathy Connolly, Landscape Designer, presented the commission with landscape design plan and costs for the proposed plantings to enhance the appearance of the guiderail on North Cove Road, and supplied a link to her website with full details of the area and the plan.
Ms. Connolly and the commission discussed issues of parking, specific types and location of plantings explaining that the type of planting is important to issues such as height, watering, wind and salt water, storm water levels, and initial maintenance of new plantings. Planting on the hillside is also considered in her plan to combat erosion.
Recommendation of types of plants were to include mainly Junipers as the best evergreen solution as they are all weather, wind tolerant, low growing and tough. Fall planting is advised. Other issues for further discussion include, obstruction to boaters, safety issues if plants project into parking areas.
Costs presented for the total planting project were considered reasonable by the commission. Plants could be ordered now and paid for to on reserve for fall planting.
The Commission deemed the plan favorable, the cost reasonable and that issues of watering could be accommodated.
