Historic District Commission Meeting Minutes
January 19, 2012
Chairperson, Randi Bradbury called the regular meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

III. OLD BUSINESS
- Regulation of playscapes within the Historic District
Members received a copy of Attorney Cronin’s summary memorandum highlighting the issues discussed at the last Historic District Commission meeting. In the memo, Attorney Cronin recommends that the Historic District Commission adopt a policy to evaluate each situation on a case-by-case basis to determine what falls within the commission’s jurisdiction as allowed by state statute.

Ms. Aldi-DePaola reviewed her plans for an updated Historic District Brochure. Members contributed to the overall content of the brochure that will provide information regarding the historic homes in the district. Mr. Creighton volunteered to assist with photographs.
Members agreed that welcome packets should be sent to all new residents within the district to familiarize them with the district regulations.
Members would like signs at each entrance of the North Cove Historic District. Signs will inform residents and visitors that they are entering a historic district. Mr. Creighton volunteered to look into the process of obtaining approval for the signs.
- Historic District status recorded on Land Records
Chairperson Bradbury informed members that the Assessor’s filed card should note if a home is within the Historic District. The process of recording the information on the land records will be discussed with the Land Use officials.
- Alternatives to the road barrier near the Yacht Club
Members agreed to revisit alternatives to the rustic looking metal barrier along North Cove Road near the yacht club. Mr. Meotti will speak with the town engineer to obtain the specifications for the barrier and research alternatives.
