Robert Wendler called the regular meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.

III. PUBLIC HEARINGS
Diane Aldi DePaola recused herself from the meeting due to a conflict of interest in the application being presented at tonights meeting.
A. “Lot 4 -Caption Dolbeare Subdivision”
Certificate of Appropriateness as to Exterior Features
Erection of New Accessory Structures – Guest House & Garage
72 North Cove Road (Map 31/ Lot 15-4)
Applicant/Agent: Capt. Dolbeare, Inc. Owner, Diane and John Aldi, Agents
John Aldi spoke to the board about their request to add two new buildings on Lot 4 of the Capt. Dolbeare subdivision. He stated that the lot is an approved building lot. Approx. 1/3 of the garage will be in the Historic District and with the leaves on the trees it not as visible from the road. The guest house is directly behind the current home at 68 North Cove Road and is barely visible from the road. Even so, they are here today to request the approval of the board for these new structures. The Aldi’s presented plans and sketches of the proposed structures explaining that the architecture will be similar to the home at 68 North Cove Road, with blue stone walkways, cedar siding, lantern style lights and colonial style columns. The Board response to the plans as presented was
positive.

Diane Aldi DePaola rejoined the meeting for the remaining agenda items.
Public Spoke:
Diane Aldi DePaola asked the board where should questions regarding the Historic District Commission’s Authority be directed. Robert Wendler said all questions should be directed to the Land Use Department.
Katherine Dubuc asked if anything is being done about the metal guardrail on North Cove Road. The board said that there is a meeting scheduled for June 2nd at 3:30 with the First Selectman to discuss the issue.
