BOARD OF FINANCE REGULAR MEETING

  • Call to Order
G. Westerson called the Regular Board of Finance meeting to order at 7:10PM

B. O’Nell moved to add to the agenda “Executive Session” after the “Selectman’s Report” and renumber accordingly, seconded by B. Thorpe. Unanimously approved. MOTION CARRIED

All members are present except Chairman D. LaMay

  • Public Comment
None.

  • Minutes  - 5/1/12; 5/15/12
No action taken.  Approval of minutes was tabled until the next meeting.

  • Old Saybrook Fire Department – Chief Dunn
Chief Dunn commented on the letter he sent to the Board of Finance and Selectmen concerning the motor failure of the engine.  The cost to repair was $22,500, which was absorbed by the Fire Department.  The engine was back in service on 5/2.  In the interim, Clinton lent the Department their engine.

  • Treasurer’s Report
Treasurer B. Fish provided a year-to-date breakdown of revenues and expenditures and answered questions from the Board.

  • Selectman’s Report
First Selectman C. Fortuna reported on the moving future health insurance negotiations towards high deductible health plans, the possible development of Max’s place, train removal from Bokum Rd. is starting, a security system for Town Hall is being explored, Town Hall Information Technology will be handled by Sgt. Gardner of the OSPD, a Small Cities grant for $500,000 for elderly housing has been applied for, and the use of carryover funds to comply with DEEP requirements at the Transfer Station.

D. Kennedy moved to adjourn at 7:57 p.m., seconded by B. Thorpe. Unanimously approved. MOTION CARRIED.
