1.      Call to order
Chairman Joe Santangelo called the meeting to order at 7:35 p.m.
In attendance: David Cole, Bruce Greenfield, Howard Huelsman
Todd Roberts, Mark McGuire, Charles Polka, Joe Santangelo, Executive Director Wilma Asch. Absent Kenneth Capano, James Keating

2.      Acceptance of minutes
Bruce Greenfield moved and Howard Huelsman seconded a motion to accept the minutes of the Sept. 11 meeting.

3.      Committee reports.
None

4.      Old Business
Boston Post Road East. Members recapped a workshop meeting held Sept. 29 on options to revitalize the eastern section of town along Boston Post Road and Ferry Road. The next workshop meeting will be Nov. 13, 6:00 P.M., EDC office.

Spirit of Old Saybrook Award. Bruce Greenfield volunteered to chair an ad hoc committee to consider possible names of the Spirit of Old Saybrook Award. David Cole and Todd Roberts also will serve on the committee.

New Business. Howard Huelsman suggested that the commission contact and offer assistance to the developer of the stalled 106,749-square-foot Max's Place shopping center at the intersection of Spencer Plains Road and Boston Post Road.

Comments from the Chairman. Joe Santangelo discussed promoting the Old Saybrook brand with an enhanced Economic Development Commission website, including more information, photos and video. It was also suggested that commission members meet with Main Street store owners to help retain existing town businesses.

Executive Director’s Report. Executive Director Wilma Asch outlined activities during the previous month.

Adjournment. The meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm
