ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT COMMISSION

Minutes of October 13, 2005

Present: Ken Capano, David Cole, Bruce Greenfield, Jim Keating, Frank Reichart and Wilma Asch.

I.   The meeting, at Town Hall, was called to order at 7:50 p.m. by Chairman Keating.

II.   On a motion made and seconded (Green/Cole) the minutes of 9/8/05 were accepted.

III.  Committee Reports
A.  Head of Main Street Project
Wilma Asch reported on the groind breaking ceremony and current status of the Head of Main Street Project.

B.  Land Acquisition
No report

C.  Board of Finance
Brice Greenfield reported that there was nothing significant to report.

D.  Zoning Commission
David Cole provided an update concerning the proposed development of the Greenberg property.

E.  Planning Commission
Ken Capano reported that the Planning Commission has scheduled a review of the Max's Place proposal at their October 19th meeting.

IV. Old Business
The Commission reviewed the Route one Corridor Study suggestions from the Yale Design Workshop as well as feedback from the 9/27 meeting regarding the proposed Founders Memorial Park.

V.  New Business
A.  Chairman Keating provided input from a meeting he attended regarding the Hope Partnership which is working toward a goal of providing affordable housing in town.  There are indications that they might receive a grant from United Way and are working to have a project plan in place by year-end.
B.  Concerning the Ferry Point project, Chairman Keating reported that the proposed plan is being redone to become broader in scope and geographic area and that we need any inventory of businesses located there.
C.  Chairman Keating also reported that Middlesex College is looking for classroom space in Old Saybrook.

VI.  Chairman Keating afjourned the meeting at 9:05 p.m.
