Chairman Larry Ritzhaupt called the meeting to order at 3:35 p.m.

- USGS Permanent Tide Gauge
The Chairman led the Committee in a discussion about hosting a community event at the beginning of the summer at which the Committee intends to present a high-level overview of sea level rise as a natural hazard and to listen to the community's concerns about the effects of sea level rise on life in Old Saybrook.~ The Committee plans to follow on from this event with presentations and listening sessions throughout the summer and fall with smaller groups in neighborhoods or at the meetings of organizations that show an interest in the phenomenon.
MOTION to host a community event at the Pasbeshauke Pavilion at Saybrook Point Park, 155 College Street Extension, on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. MADE: by D. McCracken; SECONDED by M. Momparler.; VOTED IN FAVOR: L. Ritzhaupt, D. McCracken, R. Yust, T. Gezo, M. Momparler, W. Webster; OPPOSED: none; ABSTAINED: none; APPROVED: 6-0-0.
B. Educational Strategies & Community Involvement
The Committee considered a request from the Board of Selectmen to consider the benefits of having an instrument to measure tidal action in Old Saybrook.~
M. Momparler exited the meeting at 4:45 p.m.
MOTION to recommend to the Board of Selectmen that the Town collaborate with the USGS to fund maintenance of a real-time tide gauge to be installed at Saybrook Point Park. MADE: by T. Gezo; SECONDED by R. Yust.; VOTED IN FAVOR: L. Ritzhaupt, D. McCracken, R. Yust, T. Gezo, W. Webster; OPPOSED: none; ABSTAINED: none; APPROVED: 5-0-0.
V. ADJOURNMENT
The meeting was adjourned at 5:00 p.m. until the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Conservation Commission’s Sea Level Rise Climate Adaptation Committee on Thursday, May 28, 2015 at 3:30 p.m., Town Hall, 302 Main Street, and 1st Floor Conference Room.
