IV.     WHERE ARE WE?

Christine Nelson, Director, Land Use Department, introduced Chris Costa, Zoning Enforcement Officer and Sandy Prisloe, Environmental Planner. She gave a brief overview of the Committee’s obligation to Connecticut’s Freedom of Information laws. She discussed the timeframe of the Committee’s charge – a one-year study with public outreach throughout followed by approximately 6-months of sharing the Committee’s conclusions.

V.      WHERE ARE WE GOING?

Walt Smith introduced Robert Yust, who had originally suggested Town convene this Committee to investigate the phenomenon more in-depth. Mr. Smith distributed a packet of four primers about climate change, sea level rise and coastal storms. He spoke in general about environmental, economic and social effects; he expects that the Committee will propose policies in each of these arenas.

VI.     HOW DO WE GET THERE?

Members introduced themselves, their backgrounds and particular interests in the many aspects of climate change and sea level rise.

VII.    ADJOURNMENT

Mr. Smith adjourned the meeting at 5:00 p.m.
