Land Use Department Staff Present
Christine Nelson, Town Planner
        Sandy Prisloe, Environmental Planner

H. McNeil distributed her draft on Social Equity for the group to read. She said she would send it in electronic form to B. Sherwin so he can upload it. She also has two articles she will be submitting.

B. Sherwin said S. Keaney and J. Holland submitted some information on the Old Saybrook Land Trust. J. Holland said she was hoping it could be tied in to conservation groups under the partners’ page.

R. Fish said he’d like to emphasize that the goals are not complete because the group would like the public’s input for the web site. This is intended to be a work in progress.

B. Sherwin said based on the group’s feedback, the home page was changed. He changed the mission statement on the home page, and added definitions of both sustainability and the vision for the project.

R. Fish said he planned to introduce B. Sherwin and to give a short preamble to the presentation.

B. Sherwin went through the presentation so everyone would know what he planned to say and show. This also gave everyone the opportunity to critique the presentation and to make suggestions to improve it.

B. Sherwin said the intent of the presentation is to inform but also to encourage an active dialogue.

C. Nelson thanked S. Consoli and H. McNeil for their submission, and she made some suggestions to improve it.

S. Consoli shared some information she obtained from Eugene, OR on the process of building a sustainable community and web site. She said it’s organized well, and it’s similar in look to our Sustainable Saybrook web site. She suggested the group view it.

The hopeful outcome from the presentation at the Selectmen’s meeting on Tuesday, January 24, 2012 at 7:00 P.M. is that the Selectmen will decide to use this tool for reaching out to the public, and they will fund the web site.

Respectfully submitted,

Kathleen Noyes
