Conservation Program
The Commission discussed the prospect of forming a subcommittee with representatives of other entities in the community with the common goal to collaborate in better outreach and greater engagement of the residents, businesses, and visitors in conservation efforts that exemplify the ethic of sustainability in Old Saybrook.  To begin this process, members of the Old Saybrook Land Trust were in attendance, as well as the Parks & Recreation Commission, the Main Street Merchants Association, and the Tidewater Institute.  The Commission decided to hold its subcommittee meetings on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday mornings of each month at the Town Hall at 8:00 a.m.

Public Outreach
Mr. Prisloe shared a graphic relating the cultural, environmental, and economic elements of sustainability.  The group oriented itself to how individual conservation efforts uphold varying degrees of each.  The group agreed to look at a mock-up of a website as a potential vehicle for outreach, as well as bring suggestions to the next meeting as to what topics to begin to display.

The Chairman adjourned the meeting at 9:00 a.m.

Respectfully submitted,

Christine Nelson
