The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:30 pm.

Absent: Charlie Cobb
Staff in Attendance: None
Open Space Stewardship, Police Department Presentation:
Chief Spera and Officer DePerrey explained the new program for patrolling the town’s open space areas. This program is already having a strong positive impact on the stewardship of Great Cedars, the Town Park area and other open spaces in town. A discussion followed on how best to interface the stewardship activities with the town’s public safety responsibilities in these areas.

Commission Membership:
Kim Gallagher (U), Pat Ingellis (R), Mike Kelley (D) and Robert Siegelman (R) have requested re-appointment to the Commission.
2010 Regular Meeting Schedule:
The attached 2010 Regular Meeting schedule was unanimously approved.
New Initiatives for the Conservation Commission:
An open discussion was held concerning the commission’s program for 2010 and beyond. In addition to continuing our successful open space program, suggestions were made to get more involved in regional conservation activities (greenways, trails and habitat), preservation of our cultural assets such as the old foundations and stone walls existing in town open space, partnerships with the schools and the Economic Development Commission, and energy conservation. Prioritization and specific goals will be developed in future meetings.
