The Chairman called the meeting to order at 7:34.

Absent: Pat Ingellis, Robert Siegelman

Kim Gallagher arrived at 7:57.
Approval of Minutes:
MOTION: to approve the minutes of the Regular Meeting of September 9, 2008 as presented.
MOVED: Jerry Brophy; SECONDED: Mike Kelley; IN FAVOR: Bob Fish, Jerry Brophy, Mike Kelley; OPPOSED: none; ABSTAINED: Charlie Cobb; APROVED: 3-0-1
Notable Trees Brochure:
The eight notable trees on public property have been added to the Natural Heritage Tour map. Kelly Volansky will be asked to edit the tree icons to represent exact location of the trees. The legend will state: See Notable Tree Brochure. Judy Preston will print 2,000 copies of that brochure.
Natural Heritage Tour:
Mike Kelley has made text revisions to Stop 6 directing visitors to park in the Riverside Square lot to view the Oyster River from the Route 1 Bridge. Markers have been designed for the 12 tour stops. Bob Fish will have 2,500 brochures printed of this Second Edition.
Conservation Award from the CT River Coastal Conservation District:
Bob Fish will be accepting an award on behalf of the Commission for their efforts to “protect, manage and promote open space within the town”. This event will take place at Hammonasset Beach in Madison on October 18, 2008. All members are invited.
Regional Plan of Conservation and Development:
The Regional Planning Agency has requested input from the commission for its new Plan of Conservation and Development. The Conservation Commission has scheduled a Special Meeting to reach a consensus of its recommendations for the next decade. The Special Meeting will be held on Tuesday October 28, 2008 at 7:00 pm.
