Approval of Minutes:
MOTION to approve the Regular Meeting minutes of June 14, 2005.
MOVED by Charlie Cobb.  SECONDED by Jerry Brophy.  IN FAVOR: Bob Fish, Charlie Cobb, Judy Preston, Jerry Brophy, Pat Ingellis.  OPPOSED: none. ABSTAINING: none.  APPROVED: 5-0-0.

Commission Membership & Organization
The Conservation Commission currently consists of 5 members.  Full membership is 7.  Charlie Cobb introduced Mike Kelley to members of the Commission and stated that he will be observing tonight’s meeting to gain a better understanding of what the Commission does and to see if he would be interested in becoming a member. Chairman Fish recommended that quorum be 3 while we are at 5-member strength.  In the event of an exceptionally important issue Chairman Fish recommended that we continue to require a majority vote of 4.

Preparation for Joint Meeting with Park & Rec and River Sound Development
Chairman Fish announced there will be a joint meeting between Park & Rec, River Sound Development and the Conservation Commission on Tuesday, July 26, 2005 at the Pavilion to discuss a proposed plan for recreation spaces in the Preserve.  Chairman Fish will speak with Barbara Gunther of Park & Rec to see if we can meet with Park & Rec prior to the July 26th meeting.

Commission Tasks and Priorities
Charlie Cobb compiled the results of last month’s voting and submitted them to Chairman Fish.  Mr. Cobb stated that there are 20 tasks remaining.  Chairman Fish is in the process of grouping and incorporating these tasks into the Plan of Development and will share his comments to all Conservation Commission members via hard copy.  Charlie Cobb and Chairman Fish reiterated that there may be projects and/or tasks that arise that aren’t on the priority list but still may need tending to.



Updates: Zoning, Planning, Inland Wetlands, Conservation
Jerry Brophy stated that he is a member of the Founder’s Park Committee and discussed some of their initiatives and goals.  Judy Preston mentioned there will be a special Inland Wetlands meeting this Thursday, July 14, 2005 in addition to their regular scheduled meeting next week.  She states that this is an indication of increased activities.  Chairman Fish reviewed what he knew about the present activities of Planning and Zoning.

MOTION to adjourn the meeting at 9:06pm. until the next regularly scheduled meeting on Tuesday, August 9, 2005, 7:30pm., Land Use Conference Room, Old Saybrook Town Hall, 302 Main Street.
MOVED by Charlie Cobb.  SECONDED by Pat Ingellis.  IN FAVOR: Bob Fish, Charlie Cobb, Judy Preston, Jerry Brophy, Pat Ingellis.  OPPOSED: none. ABSTAINING: none.  APPROVED: 5-0-0.
