V.     NEW BUSINESS

       A.    “Northeast Vapor Supplies, LLC”   1 Wall Sign
      1610 Boston Post Road, Map 26/Lot 37
      Gateway Business B-4 District
      Applicant:  Tim and April Meyers

This is an application to attach a sign above the store front using the existing 94” x
38” mount and frame, and to install a 54” x 16” sign on a kiosk by the road.

Tim and April Meyers presented on behalf of this application.  Ms. Meyers stated that she will
place her sign in the existing 54” x 16” space and Ms. Myers stated that she has no plan for her
sign to be lit.  The colors of the sign will be white background, blue lettering and gold coloring
around the clock.

Mr. Brodeur suggested that the banner which has a blue background at the bottom of the sign
which advertises “Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid, Accessories” to be a white background with
blue lettering which will make this sign more visible from the road.

MOTION to recommend approval of the “Northeast Vapor Supplies, LLC” 1 Wall Sign, 1610 Boston Post Road, Map 26 / Lot 37, Gateway Business B-4 District with the suggestion that the banner which has a blue background at the bottom of the sign which advertises “Electronic Cigarettes, E-Liquid, Accessories” to be a white background with blue lettering which will make this sign more visible from the road; MADE by T. Brodeur; SECONDED by A. Yust; APPROVED by A. Brodeur, S. Missel, A. Yust, B. Akin and J. Hoben; ABSTAINING: None; (5-0-0).

B.     “Food Bag”   2 Wall Signs
         1630 Boston Post Road, Map 26/Lot 38
         Gateway Business B-4 District
        Applicant/Agent:  Peter Belanger

Peter Belanger, properties and maintenance manager for General Equities, Inc., Kensington, CT presented.  The proposed signage is to be installed on Gasoline Station Canopy and Dispensers.

Mr. Belanger stated that the canopy image is to be changed from a Standard CITGO Image to a new Centennial image and the fueling Dispensers will be decaled as well.  The Canopy now has a Quadband decal surrounding the entire canopy along with two sets of CITGO 24” formed plastic letters centered on two sides of the canopy.  The 24” CITGO signage letters will be at a square footage of 16.66 s/f times two sets for a total of 33.32 s.f.

The two sets of 24” CITGO plastic letters will be removed and the existing Quadband decal will be covered with a Triform style decal covering the entire canopy fascia.

The new signage proposed located on the front side of the canopy on the left front corner is a 21” CITGO Channel Letter set, 13.19 s.f., LED and Halo illuminated.

The new signage proposed located on the right side of the canopy on the left front corner is 21” CITGO Channel letter set, 13.19 s/f , LED illuminated.  The total canopy signage is 26.38 s/f. which is 6.94 s/f less than existing canopy sign

The gas and diesel dispensers will change, valance pump toppers are to be changed, and color decals are proposed to be installed over existing decals on dispensers.

Ms. Missel expressed a concern over the existing harsh, bright lighting.  Mr. Belanger agreed to remedy the situation by skirting the fixtures and by placing a visor on three sides to exclude the building side.  There are currently 400 watt bulbs existing and Mr. will cut it down to 250 watts. Mr. Belanger agreed to change the ballast and lower the bulb wattage.

MOTION to recommend approval of the changes in the canopy signage and the dispenser valances as presented for the “Food Bag” 2 Wall Signs, 1630 Boston Post Road, Map 26 / Lot 38, Gateway Business B-4 District with the stipulation that the existing lighting off of the canopy and site lighting to be reworked in such a way so as to reduce the glare. The applicant will work the Zoning Enforcement Officer toward an amicable resolution and remedy for the existing harsh, bright lighting; MADE by A. Yust; SECONDED by S. Missel; APPROVED by A. Brodeur, S. Missel, A. Yust and J. Hoben, B. Akin; ABSTAINING: None; (5-0-0).
