III.     OLD BUSINESS-

IV.     NEW BUSINESS

A.      “Family Medicine” Sign
1250 Boston Post Road (Map 28/Lot 13-3)
Business B-3 District
Applicant/Agent:  A. Marottoli Sign Co.
In their packets, Commission members received a copy of the Design Review Application form along with Application for Certificate of Zoning Compliance for Signs, a sign spec report for the proposed sign and a site plan.
K. Snow said he went to the site today to look at the present sign. He asked about wiring for lighting. A. Marottoli said there were no plans for lighting the sign. He said there is a low voltage solar panel, which is all that will be used.
J. Gibbs said the font for the “behavioral health” portion of the sign looked squeezed in. A. Marottoli said that due to square footage limitations, that portion of the sign would be eliminated. The sign will only be for “Family Medicine.”
A. Marottoli asked Commission members if he would have to come back before the ARB to ask if he could recondition the present sign on the building. J. Gibbs said the ARB Commission could give him permission for an “in kind” wall sign replacement, which would mean the lettering, coloring, etc. would remain the same as it is now.
MOTION to approve “Family Medicine” Sign; 1250 Boston Post Road (Map 28 / Lot 13-3) Business B-3 District; Applicant/Agent: A. Marottoli Sign Company as presented without lighting, and to approve replacement of the sign on the building in kind with no changes. MOVED by J. Gibbs; SECONDED by K. Snow;  IN FAVOR: T. Pendleton, D. Wight, J. Gibbs, K. Snow, A. Claffey; OPPOSED:  none  ABSTAINED: none  APPROVED: 5-0-0.

B.      Correspondence –

C.       Committee, Representative & Staff Reports
D.      Design Excellence Awards –

Photographer Sally Perreten, who has taken photographs for recipients of past Design Excellence Awards, talked with Commission members about particular aspects of the buildings that they would like photographed for this year’s winners. There was discussion about significant details of the buildings, building shapes, and how the buildings fit into the context of the neighborhood. Commission members would like to keep the same framing format of one large horizontal picture above three smaller vertical pictures.

S. Perreten asked Commission members when they would like the buildings to be photographed. They said if at all possible, they would like the buildings to be photographed when the flowers and trees are in bloom.

S. Perreten also asked about the deadline, and Commission members asked her to contact Town Planner, Christine Nelson for that information.

S. Perreten said she would send the photos on CD at full resolution to C. Nelson who could discuss them with ARB members at a future ARB meeting.
