Selectmen’s Workshop
October 24, 2005
8:05 PM Chair Netishen opened the meeting.
Members present: Bill Netishen, Mary Bonser, Peter Bock and Town Administrator Charles A. Brown.
Mr. Brown explained the handouts he gave the Board today.
The Board discussed mileage reimbursement. In the past many employees have not used the mileage line but now that the cost of gas is so high we will most likely see an increase. General discussion of standard lines. There was much discussion about enforcement.
The Board again discussed the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) and whether to set it at 4.1% or 2.8% as originally proposed. The Board asked what surrounding communities are budgeting for COLA. Mr. Brown has had inquires from other towns asking what Nottingham is doing. Mr. Netishen stated that the CPI is at 3.1%. Mr. Brown will monitor the Social Security website to determine an accurate increase.
Much discussion followed concerning the Town Clerk’s budget explanation. Mr. Brown will ask the Town Clerk for clarification. The Voter Registration budget was also discussed noting the Supervisor’s request for an increase in their hourly rate. Mr. Brown has not yet received any budget request from the Moderator.
The Board reviewed the executive budget. They discussed the auditor’s fee of $4,290 for the fixed asset auditing. It was asked what services are provided for in that fee. They next reviewed the assessing, legal and insurance lines.
The Planning Board has requested adding a part time planner position. It has been included in that budget.
The next workshop will be on Thursday morning, October 27, 2005 at 8:00 AM in Conference Room #2.
Ms. Bonser announced that a Republican Forum would be held on November 6, 2005 at 3:00 PM in Conference Room #1 at the Town Offices.
