Approved Minutes
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman Bob Carlson called the Regular Meeting of the School Ad Hoc Committee to order on Monday, April 27, 2009 at 7:10 P.M.
2. ROLL CALL
Committee Members Present: Leslie Driscoll, Sam Cherenzia, Bob Carlson (Chairman), Arthur Dobley (Recording Secretary), Barbara Siner, and Heather Mars.
Committee Members Absent: Chris D’Angelo (Vice-Chairman), Jeff Frenette (Corresponding Secretary), Brett Mastroianni, and Marie Sehl.
3. PUBLIC COMMENTS AND QUESTIONS:
Gary Herbert from the Board of Finance said that the education budget was cut by about 100 thousand dollars. Also the proposed mill rate increase is 0.44 mils.
4. ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA: None
5. MINUTES: MOTION by Sam Cherenzia, SECOND by Barbara Siner to accept the Draft Minutes of 4/13/09 with no corrections. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
6. CORRESPONDENCE: None
7. OLD BUSINESS: None
8. NEW BUSINESS:
A. Review of Data The committee asked clarification questions to Mr. Arthur Jerbert. Mr. Jerbert distributed 2 handouts being 1) a summary for his future talk, and 2) corrections to his option 5 plan. He emphasized that his plans can be changed to fit with specific requirements as needed. He made his plan in a manner for direct comparison to the other plans.
B. Action Items: Bob will contact Jeff Frenette (e-mail), then Natalie Pukas (school tours).
9. DISCUSSIONS:
A. E-mail accounts: Jeff will display the use of e-mail accounts in the future.
B. Subcommittees: They will start in the near future after learning more about FOI.
C. Liaisons: Barbara and Heather will switch due to scheduling conflicts.
D. School tours: Re-tour the North Stonington schools again this semester with students present.
Also tour the Sterling School June 8th (first choice) or June 15th.
E. Bob’s Checklist. Add items to the list.
10. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION by S. Cherenzia, SECOND by Barbara Siner to adjourn the School Ad Hoc Committee Meeting at 8:50 P.M. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
