                            6:15 PM


Call to Order -6:20 PM with Commissioners Walley, Taylor, Rusich, Perkins, McCord and Condon present.  Also present was Director John Hines.
Public Comments and Questions-General Discussion on the work being done at the Rec Area on the Ice Rink/Volleyball Court.
Minutes-November, 2011-A motion was made by Commissioner Rusich to accept the minutes of November 1, 2011, seconded by Commissioner Walley, carrying unanimously.
Financial Report-
  • Overpayment was made to Joy Fidrych for the Dance Program, and will be deducted from her next payment check-$730.00
  • Director Hines will look into the $400 payment to Richard White, likely getting septic pumped at Recreation Area.
Correspondence
  • Thank you letter from High School Principal for Mr. Hines attendance at the Renaissance Program.  Mr. Hines had a great time.
Old Business
  • Report on Ice Rink Installation-A 60’ x 100’ ice rink is now assembled at the Rec Area, suggestions of having Bruce and Sons keep rink clear of snow again this year.  Will need benches and picnic tables at the site.  Mr. Hines will arrange for the tables to be moved and look into rubber mats for the area for skaters.
  • Sayles Bench update-Mr. Hines was impressed with benches at the Poquonock Park and will investigate and take pictures for January meeting.
  • Soccer Banquet Report-Banquets went very well, will continue having two sessions separated between younger and older children.
  • Fire House Parking-Fire House was concerned about people parking in rear of  Company parking lot for recreation events.  Rec Flyer reminded people to please park in designated areas only.
New Business
  • Questions from Little League-Megan Perkins-Little League would like to have a softball league at the Rec Area and are looking for storage.  After general discussion of field maintenance and storage possibilities the commission decided to work with the Little League for the upcoming season.
  • Bus Trips-Megan Perkins-Commissioner Perkins presented ideas for family bus trips for skiing, sporting events, the Bronx Zoo, etc. Commissioner McCord is willing to help.  Trips would allow families or groups to go, recreation would advertise and promote the trips.
  • Webpage Postings-General Discussion of improving posting and possible Facebook page.  Commissioner Perkins will research and report back in January.
  • Vacuum Cleaner Purchase-Director Hines purchased a $49 vacuum for the Rec Shack.
  • Winter Weather Cancellation Update-Set with 4 tv stations and 2 radio stations for closing announcements.

Adjournment- Commissioner Taylor made a motion to adjourn at 7:50 PM, seconded by Commissioner McCord, carrying.
