April 6, 2009
Call to Order-6:20 PM with Commissioners Aiello, Taylor, Congdon, Walley, Rusich and Director Hines present.
Public Comments and Questions-None
Minutes-March 2nd-Table until May meeting  
Correspondence-Babe Ruth League Thank you-Jim Parenteau-Letter was read and accepted by the Commission
Old Business
      1.  Pizza Party Review-  “What can we do better?”  Party for end of Basketball Season went well, the Commissioners had several suggestions such as check out kids favorite soda types, coaches should call entire team up for awards to speed up process, have pizza served prior to awards, the Commission agreed that two trophies per team was the best idea and will continue next year.  
       2.  Skating Rink-Action will be table until May meeting, Mr. Hines will measure the basketball court for rink size.
New Business
     1.  Walking Track-Kip, John and Steve walk through, what is next, materials, what needs to be done, etc-Work party of volunteers is needed to clear brush, contact Cherenzia for gravel delivery, every attempt will be made to save the cedar grove at the site.
     2.  Easter Egg Hunt-      A.  Tim Horton’s Commitment
        B.  Duties for the Day for Commissioners
Mr. Hines has prepared 2500 eggs for the event Commissioners should arrive at 9:15 AM to assist with set up.  Coffee will be provided by Tim Horton’s and the company has donated coupons for the children.
     3.  Summer Employment-Set Interview Date and Discuss process-Advertisement was run in the Westerly Sun and Mystic River Press, applications are available at the Wheeler High School and Selectmen’s Office, announcements will be made each day at the High School, deadline is May 15th,   Commission will review applications and conduct interviews on May 27th,
      4.  Wheeler Middle/High School Girls-Grades 8-12 “Open Gym for Basketball”, Insurance Coverage Umbrella-David  Lewis will supervise the open gym activity on Wednesday evenings between 6-8 PM.
     5.  Repair/Maintenance of cracks on tennis & basketball courts @ Recreation Area-Mr. Hines will call companies for quotes on work and try to get representatives to attend next meeting.
General Discussion-A motion was made to approve the March expenditures.
