DRAFT MINUTES

 

1.   CALL TO ORDER:

 

Chairman George Brown called the Regular Meeting of the Inland Wetlands Commission to order on Wednesday, March 13, 2013 at 7:00 p.m.

 

COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:

 

George Brown, Chairman, Mark Grigg, Vice-Chair, Kevin Geary, Ron Lewis, Art Dobley, Duane White, and Candy Palmer.

 

COMMISSIONERS ABSENTRobert Miner

 

STAFF PRESENT:

 

Cheryl Konsavitch, Administrative Assistant

 

2.   ADDITIONS TO THE AGENDA

 

MOTION by D. White, SECOND by K. Geary to amend the agenda to add stream maintenance request by N. Mullane under Discussion.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

3.   MINUTES:

 

Review minutes of regular meeting of February 13, 2013

 

MOTION by C. Palmer, SECOND by D. White to approve the minutes of February 13, 2013 as submitted.

 

4.    OLD BUSINESS

 

SUB #13-003 (Subdivision) Application of Duane A. White, 94 Pinewoods Rd., North Stonington, CT  06359 for a 3-lot subdivision of land on property located at 93 Pinewoods, North Stonington, CT  06359 in an R-80 Zone.  Tax Map #90, Parcel #7989

 

D. White recused himself.

The applicant submitted a letter from Mr. Dexter Miller, Soil Scientist stating there are no wetlands on the subdivision and withdrew his application.

7.    DISCUSSION:          

 

A.  Lakeway Farms (Arbor Acres) stumping a clear cut area

 

The Commission discussed an area that is being cleared at 274 Wyassup Road.  The property owner does have a driveway permit, but is waiting on his site-plan to submit to wetlands and zoning.

 

The Commission asked that the owner be contacted to stop working in the wetland area and come before the Commission.

 

B.  Shunock Brook (Stream Maintenance)

 

Nicholas Mullane, 1st Selectman submitted a request to remove silt and grass growth in center of the stream in the Shunock Brook by the Town Hall parking lot.

 

The Commission approved the request stating that when the water is low and as long as the equipment stays out of the water.

 

C.  Wetlands Vacancy

 

The Commission will send a letter to the Selectmen to appoint Cody Bill to the  vacant seat and require him to go to the upcoming Wetlands Training Course.
