Minutes Approved ~ November 14, 2012

 

1.   CALL TO ORDER:

 

Vice-Chair Mark Grigg called the Regular Meeting of the Inland Wetlands Commission to order on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

 

COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:

 

Mark Grigg, Vice-Chair, Kevin Geary, Ron Lewis, Marvin Chase, Jr., Duane White, and Robert Miner (arrived at 7:45 p.m.)

 

COMMISSIONERS ABSENTGeorge Brown, Chairman, Art Dobley, and Candy Palmer  

 

STAFF PRESENT:

 

Cheryl Konsavitch, Administrative Assistant and Wayne Berardi, Wetlands Enforcement Officer

3.   MINUTES:

 

Review minutes of regular meeting of September 12, 2012

 

MOTION by D. White, SECOND by K. Geary to approve the draft minutes of 9/12/12 as written.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

4.   OLD BUSINESS:       

 

#12-068 (Private Drive) Application of Arlene F. Steinlauf & Scott A. Hurwitz, Trustees of Edward G. Steinlauf Trust & Lorraine Yardan, Trustee of Stephan W. Yardan Trust, 55 Sound View Heights, Branford, CT  06405 for the construction of a private driveway off Jeremy Hill Road in North Stonington, CT  06359 in an R-60  Zone to access subdivision in Stonington.  Tax Map #115, Parcel #7823

(Commission received on 8/08/12; must act on or by 10/11/12)

Atty. Tim Bates and Phil Katz of Stantec Consulting were present for this meeting representing the applicants.

 

Atty. Bates submitted an extension request of sixty five days for the application to extend it to December 15, 2012.

 

Atty. Bates stated they would be submitting revised drawings to show a 24 foot roadway and

Mr. Katz stated that the 24 foot roadway would compromise some vernal pools. 

 

The applicants will return for the Commission’s November 14th meeting to give a full presentation on this application.

 

5.    NEW BUSINESSNew 

 

6.    WORKSHOP

 

A.  Ray Jones to discuss constructing a fire pond at 31D Clarks Falls Rd.

 

Mr. Jones came before the Commission to discuss constructing a fire pond on his property and went over a draft plan with the Commission.  The Commission scheduled a site-walk of the property on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 12:00 p.m.

 

B.  Adam Tipton to discuss a parcel of land at 51 Boombridge Rd to construct a SFR.

 

Mr. Tipton came before the Commission to discuss constructing a single family residence at 51 Boombridge Road which has wetlands on the property.  The Commission scheduled a site-walk of the property on Saturday, October 13, 2012 at 1:00 p.m.
