Minutes Approved ~ June 13, 2012

 

1.   CALL TO ORDER:

 

Chairman George Brown called the Regular Meeting of the Inland Wetlands Commission to order on Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at 7:00 p.m.

 

COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:

 

George Brown, Chairman, Mark Grigg, Vice-Chair, Duane White, Kevin Geary, and Art Dobley

 

COMMISSIONERS ABSENTRon Lewis, Marvin Chase, Jr., Mac Gray, and Robert Miner  

 

STAFF PRESENT:

 

Cheryl Konsavitch, Administrative Assistant and Wayne Berardi, Wetlands Enforcement Officer

 

2.   ADDTIIONS TO THE AGENDANone    

 

3.   MINUTES:

 

Review minutes of April 11, 2012 meeting.

 

MOTION by D. White, SECOND by K. Geary to approve the draft minutes of 4/11/12 with the necessary changes.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

4.   OLD BUSINESSNone     

 

5.    NEW BUSINESS

 

#12-050 (West Village Rd. Bridge) Application of the Town of North Stonington, 40 Main Street, North Stonington, CT  06359 to rehabilitate the West Village Road Bridge over the Shunock River (Main Street) which was damaged by the March 2010 flood.

 

Nicholas Mullane, 1st Selectman was present and stated that North Stonington proposes to rehabilitate the West Village Bridge carrying Main Street over the Shunock River.  Mr. Mullane briefly went over the proposal which is outlined in detail as part of the application.

 

Chairman Brown asked if there were any questions or comments from the public.  The following person spoke:

The Commission will do a site walk of the property on Thursday, May 17th at 5:00 p.m.  The applicant will return for the Commission’s June 13th meeting.

7.   DISCUSSION:        

 

Avalonia Land Conservancy asking for a letter of support for a State Grant for a 74 acre parcel on Babcock Road

 

Mac and Pat Turner came before the Commission to ask for a letter of support in an acquisition.  Avalonia Land Conservancy will be competing for a state grant to purchase a 74 acre parcel on Babcock Road. 

 

The Commission will draft a letter in support of the acquisition.

MOTION by D. White, SECOND by M. Grigg to adjourn the Inland Wetlands Commission Meeting at 7:40 p.m.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
