Draft Minutes
1. CALL TO ORDER:
Chairman George Brown called the Regular Meeting of the Inland Wetlands Commission to order on Wednesday, December 14, 2011 at 7:00 p.m.
COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:
George Brown, Chairman, Duane White, Kevin Geary, Mac Gray, Marvin Chase, Jr.
COMMISSIONERS ABSENT: Mark Grigg, Vice-Chair, Art Dobley, Ron Lewis and Robert Miner
STAFF PRESENT:
Cheryl Konsavitch, Administrative Assistant and Wayne Berardi, Wetlands Enforcement Officer
2. ADDTIIONS TO THE AGENDA: None
3. MINUTES:
Review minutes of November 9, 2011 meeting.
MOTION by D. White, SECOND by M. Chase to approve the Draft Minutes of 11/09/11 with the necessary corrections. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
4. OLD BUSINESS:
#11-107 (Garage,Gazebo & Dock) Application of Peter J. Springsteel, 105 Starr Street, Mystic, CT 06355 to construct a detached 18’ x 24’ garage, 12’ dia. gazebo & dock landing in the wetlands buffer on property located at 44P Wyassup Lake Road owned by Kathleen Lathrop Thaxton in an R-80/SUOA. Tax Map #70, Parcel #3888
The Commission had a site-walk of the property and saw no issues.
MOTION by D. White, SECOND by M. Chase to approve application #11-107 with the condition that the Wetlands Enforcement Officer inspects the Erosion & Sediment Control before construction begins. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
5. NEW BUSINESS:
2012 Schedule of Meetings
MOTION by D. White, SECOND by M. Chase to approve the 2012 Schedule of Meetings for the Inland Wetlands Commission. MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
6. DISCUSSION:
The Commission asked WEO Berardi to inspect the Lakeway Farms subdivision to see if there are any wetlands violations.
The Commission also received an e-mail from Dick Cooper stating that Eagle Scout candidate Tom Kane would like to construct 2 footbridges over the Shunock River at the Bicentennial Trailhead. The Commission stated that when Mr. Kane is ready he would need to submit an application and plans along with a presentation to the Wetlands Commission as he will be working in the wetlands.
