1.   CALL TO ORDER:

 

Vice-Chair Mark Grigg called the Regular Meeting of the Inland Wetlands Commission to order on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at 7:04 p.m.

 

COMMISSIONERS PRESENT:

Mark Grigg, Vice-Chairman, Ron Lewis, Kevin Geary, Arthur Dobley, George Brown, Mac Gray and Marvin Chase, Jr.

 

COMMISSIONERS ABSENT:  Chairman Duane White and Robert Miner

 

STAFF PRESENT:

 

Wayne Berardi, Wetlands Enforcement Officer and Cheryl Konsavitch, Administrative Assistant

 

2.   ADDTIIONS TO THE AGENDANone      

 

3.   MINUTES:

 

Review minutes of February 9 & March 9, 2011 meeting.

 

MOTION by M. Gray, SECOND by G. Brown to approve the Draft Minutes of 2/09/11 and 3/09/11 with the necessary corrections.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

4.   OLD BUSINESS:      

 

#11-010 (Rehabilitation) Application of the Town of North Stonington, 40 Main Street, North Stonington, CT  06359 for Lantern Hill Dam & Road Rehabilitation (N. Stonington & Ledyard) for property owned by the Town of North Stonington & the Mashantucket Pequot Tribal Nation.  Tax Map #92, Parcel #9534

 

MOTION by G. Brown, SECOND by M. Gray to approve application #11-010 with the following conditions:  1.  Notifiy the Commission prior to construction and install Erosion & Sediment Control.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.

 

5.    NEW BUSINESSNone

 

6.   WORKSHOP

 

A.  Gary Park, 6 Wyassup Rd. to discuss repairing existing retaining wall

 

Mr. Park came before the Commission to discuss repairing his retaining wall.  Mr. Park stated that the driveway is caving in and the retaining wall is falling into the brook.

 

Mr. Park stated that at least 2/3 of the wall is damaged which is about 120 feet of wall.

 

The Commission will do individual site-walks of the property and Mr. Park will return to the Commission when he has a definite plan of what he plans to do.

 

B.   Lisa Doire, 94D Billings Rd. to discuss repairing existing retaining wall

 

Lisa Doire came before the Commission to discuss repairing her retaining wall.  Ms. Doire stated she would like to take blue stone and repair the existing wall as a temporary fix and do more repair work in October when the lake is lowered if needed.

 

The Commission stated that this is a maintenance issue and to make sure no sediment or silt gets in the lake.

 

May 11th Workshop:  Eugene Anderson, 127 Sleepy Hollow Rd. to discuss easement to lot 1985

MOTION by M. Grigg, SECOND by A. Dobley to adjourn the Inland Wetlands Commission Meeting at 7:50 p.m.  MOTION CARRIED UNANIMOUSLY.
