Minutes of the October 20, 2009 meeting of the Hewitt Farm Preserve Committee
The committee met at the High School Media Room at 7:00 p.m. In attendance were Brian Rathbun, Curtis Mousie, Rob Evans, Kip Taylor, Frank Eppinger, Ellie Banker, Anne Nalwalk and Chairman, Bill Peterson.
Also in attendance was Richard Cooper who gave a report on the existing trail system which was followed by a discussion of the feasibility of connecting some of the existing trails.
The issue of the plank bridges over the Shunnock was discussed. The committee all agreed that they should be replaced rather than simply pulled up as ordered by the Selectmen.
The Committee voted to recommend to the BOS the acceptance of the first proposal by Huck Perkins for cutting the hay fields.
There was a request from the Seaport to cut some greens for Christmas decorations which were agreed to for this year only.
There was a discussion of the Green Gables (“Red Horse Nursery”) house.
A budget for next year needs to be worked on as does the wording for the final report to the BOS.
There was a brief discussion of the feasibility of eradicating invasive species on the property.
