Brett moved to approve minutes, Christine seconded. Passed 6-0-0.
Treasurer Kimball reported a balance of $8630.00.
Juliet made a formal request on behalf of the Planning & Zoning Commission for EDC to assist in funding Don Poland, consultant, to review zoning regulations to spur economic development, in the amount of $2,300.00. Christine moved to approve, Robert seconded, approved 5-0-1.
The EDC website is progressing slowly with need for input from NS business entities to flesh it out.
Discussion prevailed re Garnet Consulting Services Inc., contract with EDC, with questions on edits, time frames, progress reports, surveys, public meetings, etc. It was agreed Juliet would be point of contact for EDC and convey the contract to Board of Selectman by no later than January 24, 2012 for their approval.
Residents of Noank are embarking on a cooperative, Noank Community Market at the former location of Universal Food Store recently closed. Christine suggested we in NS look at a similar project.
Of the four expected presenters on year-round greenhouse use, Fire Fly Farm (Van Brown and Dugan Tillman-Brown) was the only business that appeared. They updated EDC on their status and future plans. This subject will be pursued.
Marilyn moved EDC sponsor, with NSBA co-sponsoring, a series of educational seminars at Wheeler Library, seconded by Brent, approved 6-0-0.
Meeting adjourned at 8:32 PM.
The next meeting will be held on February 16, 2012 at New Town Hall.
