Discussion prevailed on the EDC/Affordable Housing workshop slated for Saturday, April 28, 9:30 AM, at Elementary School Multi-Purpose Room.  The event will be run by two consultants:  EDC Mark Waterhouse of Garnet (EDC) and NSAHC Jason Vincent of Planimetrics (NSAHC).

It was agreed we would supply food at both the April 18 Website seminar and the April 28 Workshop.

Several EDC members attended the Planning & Zoning meeting held on March 8th at which Don Polland strongly recommended simplifying and reducing zoning regulations.  Jason Vincent followed for the purpose of receiving feedback from P&Z commission members re their attitudes towards affordable housing in North Stonington.

There was conjecture re John Ryan was purchasing the Fisher Control property for a 21st century solar company and that a culinary institute is interested in purchasing Randall’s Ordinary.

New business in NS:  Cotuu Brothers, a moving company.

Members were encouraged to attend several workshops on April 3 and 10  Brett will attend and Bob is tentative.

Good news that the Board of Education voted to retain Wheeler H.S. in our Town.

EDC Website progress was updated by Julie and Peter including discussion on Mission Statement and Letter from Chair.  Juliet will follow up with Robin Roohr re email setup for website and Bob will get commercial real estate listings to post.

Meeting adjourned at 9:05 PM.

The next meeting will be held on April 19, 2012 at New Town Hall.

Respectfully submitted,
Marilyn Mackay
