Minutes

Meeting Called to Order at 7:25 p.m. by Chairman Brad Currier
Commissioners in attendance: Brent Woodward, Brad Currier, Peter Bogoian, Linda Pershaec, Marilyn Mackay Gladys Chase (7:25).  Commission members absent: Robert Kimball and Mark Perkins.

Robert Kimball, Treasurer was absent report was read by Brad Currier.

The minutes of the February 18, 2010 meeting were reviewed. A motion to accept was made by Linda Pershaec seconded by Brent Woodward.

Business Introduction / Presentation  

 Brett L. Mastroianni,  President of  “New” East Coast Jewelry & Loan: Holly Green, 391 Norwich Westerly Road, North Stonington, CT . Spoke with the commission members. Mr. Mastroianni spoke of ideas to help draw the community into Holly Green.

Jeremiah Miner, Director of “NEW” Connecticut Academy of Martial Arts, Holly Green, 391 Norwich Westerly Road, North Stonington, CT – was unable to attend the meeting but will try to make the meeting next month.

These are two of the four new businesses in the Holly Green location.

OLD BUSINESS:

1)  Westerly Hospital   Affiliated, nonprofit Community Health Center in North Stonington, CT, Providing, Urgent Care, Primary Care and Physical Therapy.
Building renovations are in progress.  



2)  Update - Milltown Commons; “A New England Style Hamlet”, North Stonington, CT; “Where we are today” no discussion.  

North Stonington Business Assoc: held monthly meeting on March 17, 2010.   North Stonington “Business” Map rough draft was shown and discussed. They will be paid for by sponsors and distributed at various locations and businesses.
Plans are being made for Memorial Day parade float, NS Fair booth and holiday events.   
They also have a website http://nsbusiness.org .
     
North Stonington Infrastructure / sewers report. EDC is still waiting to see the “Financial Report”. The report has been done but not released for review yet.

Northeast Utilities “Energy Efficiency Programs” and Grant Programs
Brad Currier reported that he has been working with Alan Pesch to get grant money for lighting and renovations through this program offered to businesses.

NEW BUSINESS:

 EDC 2010 – 2011 Proposed Budget is done but Brad is working on the explanations to justify the expenditures.
