Minutes
Meeting Called to Order at 7 p.m.
Commissioners in Attendance Linda Pershaec, Robert Kimball, Robert Boissevain, Marilyn Mackay, Bradford Currier, Peter Bogoian and Mark Perkins. Absent member was Brent Woodward.
Public in Attendance were Mr. Ernie Cohen and Mr. Peter Nimirowski
Item to add to agenda was Mr Ernie Cohen, PH.D.PE Chemical from Emico Test & Eng.-Aqua Tec Environmental- Water Treatment Norwich, CT. Speaking on Economic Diversification. He spoke about the advantages to setting up a Development Authority. The town would then be able to procure bonding and do infrastructure.
Mr. Peter Nimirowski is from Bath Builders in North Stonington. He came to the meeting to express his interest in the business directory survey that was sent out. The commission hopes to have the survey information all compiled by April and a meeting with the business owners is planned.
Treasurer’s report:
Robert Kimball, Treasurer gave report that the only expenses for last month were $360.00 for postal permit. $175.35 mailing cost for survey, and $88.00 for Secretarial fees.

OLD BUSINESS:
1) EDC Retention Program Commissioners feedback / Follow-up. With the business survey under way it was suggested that the retention program be limited to one business a month.
2) Town Signage has had no action due to frozen ground.
3) EDC web site still working on gathering information for the site.
4) RCCD Regulations & exhibits were discussed. The thought was that the commission would like to work at expanding that zone. Peter Bogoian suggested that P&Z show EDC what they don’t want in the RCCD zone. Peter made a motion to authorize Brad Currier to send a letter to P&Z requesting a workshop on the development of the west end of town. Motion was seconded by Linda Pershaec and vote was unanimous.
5) North Stonington Affordable Housing Advisory Committee (NSAHAC) Report “North Stonington Affordable Housing 2008”, Marilyn Mackay reported that they are working on ways to obtain affordable housing by using deed restrictions. Copy of the report is available on the town Website.
6) EDC Business letter / survey mailing update, hand-outs, follow-up, and records discussion. Marilyn asked each member to take a portion of the list for follow up calls. It is hoped that all information will be ready by next meeting and compiled by the April meeting.
NEW BUSINESS:
1) North Stonington Agriculture Stirring Committee. Marilyn Mackay volunteered to be EDC representative; a grant for technical Assistance was applied for. Update: the grant was approved.
2) Holly Green; upcoming workshop - Joint meeting with P&Z Workshop, Holly Green Association member and EDC on March 6, 2009, 6:00 PM. Brad corrected the date to March 12, 2009 6 p.m.
