Meeting opened at 7 p.m.


Roll call: Peter Bogoian, Marilyn Mackay, Robert Boissevain, Bradford Currier, Robert Kimball, Linda Pershaec, Brent Woodward and Mark Perkins.

Items to add to agenda: none

Treasurer’s report: The report was accepted and put on file. Robert Boissevain questioned the CEDAS/CT- APA expenses. He questioned what it was and if it had been voted on.  He thought the expense was excessive. Chairman, Bradford Currier II, reported that the expenses were for Connecticut Economic Development Association (CEDAS) annual membership, the cost of 4 EDC workshops,  mileage for a six month period, in attending four, 1 day EDC workshops in Berlin, CT and traveling to seCTer regional meeting and as the Representative for  N.. Stonington EDC as well as a committee member of the Southeastern CT Site Finders Tour which our town participated in,  required bi-monthly and weekly meeting 3 months prior to the event.

Review of minutes for October 16, 2008. Minutes accepted as written.  

Old business:

EDC’s Public Survey, Marilyn Mackay suggested retracting the survey idea and sending out short forms instead. She has a sample form to base the questions on. She wants to do a spreadsheet.                                                                                                                          
Robert Kimball asked if the committee was interested in all small business or should they make commercial business their priority. It was agreed that the 50 business should be concentrated on.
Marilyn will keep electronic directory of businesses to have on request.


Peter Bogoian made motion that as a committee EDC support electronic business brochure. Seconded by Marilyn Mackay.  
After discussion it was decided that this would be looked into. Marilyn will make the brochure.  
Marilyn Mackay made motion that questionnaire be sent to all households addressed to business owners. Ask them to mail it back to EDC. The cost should be about $500. Seconded by Linda Pershaec.


EDC Retention Program visits got some positive reviews. All information will be filed for future use.

Town Signage no updates but the sign on 617 & Rte 2 has been removed and a new location will need to be found.

EDC web site nothing new at this time.

Planning and Zoning “Newly Revised” Zoning Regulations; Peter Bogoian talked about RCCD and showed all information that was done in the past.  RCCD not going to be addressed now but will look into it after the moratorium is over.    

Planning and Zoning is meeting on December 4. Linda and Brad will write a statement with bulleted items and RCCD zone to be read at the meeting. As many members as possible should attend this meeting.

 December 18, 2008: North Stonington Economic Development Commission   Presentation; Presented By: C. James Gibbons Jr - A Professional Land Use Planner

Mr. Gibbons is a Land Use and Natural Resource Program Coordinator with                                   the University Of Connecticut Cooperative Extension System. He is a professional land use planner who has been part of the faculty for 31 years. Prior to his UConn appointment, Mr. Gibbons was employed as a Land Use Planning Consultant for 10 years, developing land use plans and writing land use regulations for communities throughout the northeast.
